Episode Guide - Season 1

001 * Our Very First Show

In this very first episode, we are introduced to the Tanner family who lives in San Francisco. Danny Tanner is a sports caster who has recently become widowed after his wife Pam’s tragic death in a car accident involving a drunk driver. At the beginning of the episode Danny is about to say goodbye to his mother, who has spent the past three months living at the house, while helping Danny take care of his three daughters under the age of ten; ten year-old D.J, five year-old Stephanie and baby Michelle. On the very same day Joey Gladstone, a stand-up comedian and Danny’s best friend since childhood, along with Danny's brother-in-law, rock-and-roll musician Jesse Katsopolis, moves into the house - as what first is meant to be temporarily. Joey moves into the alcove in the living room and Jesse moves into Stephanie's pink bunny wall-papered room, which means that precocious Stephanie now has to share a room with big sister D.J, who is not happy about this new situation. At first their biggest challenge prove to be exactly with oldest daughter D.J, who is not coping very well with all these new family changes and react in protest by moving into the garage in order to have her own room. Jesse and Joey have their hands full helping with the kids and adjusting to a new lifestyle – and it's not easy for these two makeshift "junior dads", whom reportedly doesn't even know the differece between a diaper and a dinner napkin, to adapt to the new situation. But already in this first episode they recieve their first real test in both diaper-changing of baby Michelle and in helping Danny resolve their very first conflict in this recently upgraded 'full house'.

002 * Our Very First Night

This episode chronicles the very first night at the Tanner house. Jesse and Joey have rapidly improved their diaper changing skills, and the girls get their first taste of hillarious newfound bedtime stories. After having spent the whole day at the house all three adults have made plans for the night, and is about to leave the house at the same time. The only trouble is - who is going to watch the girls? Jesse, who is still very much struggling to balance this new lifestyle and responsibilities, is the one who is chosen to be left at home and watch the girls, which seems to be an easy gig. But to Jesse's dismay, the girls wants to do everything but to go to bed, and they soon lie and scheme to trick Jesse into letting them stay up late, eating ice cream and jumping rope. And if that wasn't enough, Jesse, who had scheduled an important band rehearsal finds the time to invite his band over to the house for the planned rehearsal none-the-less. They proceed to set up to play in the living room, but naturally they are not able to play quiet enough. Of course, D.J and Stephanie who are wide awake on a sugar rush, doesn't want to miss an opportunity like that to hear the band and order pizza and have a party, much to Jesse's disapproval at first. But when the clock is pushing midnight, the girls has gotten their first taste of rock and roll and are dancing on the speakers wearing purple hair. When Danny arrives home from work at midnight, he is not delighted about what he sees. Meanwhile during the episode, baby Michelle is in pain due to teething, which causes some hillarious moments when the two rather unexperienced 'junior dads' step up.

003 * The First Day Of School

School is starting up again for D.J and Stephanie. D.J and her best friend Kimmy Gibbler are making plans for the new year in 5th grade, from who is cool at school to where the best place is to pass notes to each other in class. Naturally, the night before the big day is filled with exitement; Stephanie easily manages to irritate her older sister
as she gets preoccupied with finding the right outfit for her very first day in Kindergarden, and Jesse and Joey experience their very first attempt at giving baby Michelle a bath; while singing Elvis songs in the bathtub. As the big day approaches, Stephanie gets even more apprehensive about starting kindergarden, and when the big day finally arrives she freezes up and refuses to go. She has a severe case of kindergarten jitters because she is afraid that her new classmates will reject her as a friend on the first day. Danny, Jesse and Joey all try their best to help the 5-year-old ease into the new experience and encourage her the best they know how, when Danny catches D.J during her attempt to flee the school grounds. Why is Danny's typically responsible oldest daughter having problems starting fifth grade? It turns out that D.J has been put in the advanced class with, what she calls, all omelet-heads. This means she won't be in the same class as Kimmy, which saddens her as she won't have her best friend in the same class this year. When Stephanie tries to leave the school, it is D.J who convinces her to stay. The two sisters have a heart-to-heart and promise each other that they won't try to make a break for it again. After their discussion, they hug each other, and return to their respective classes.

It turns out that Joey forgot to mention to Danny that Claire called. Joey tells Danny that her flight arrive at 5:12pm. A now frantic Danny wants the messy house cleaned up as soon as possible, so he can prove to Claire that he can handle things on his own, now that Pam is gone. The guys then take the girls out shopping for cleaning supplies, thinking they still have about five hours until Claire's arrival. Minutes later, as the guys are about to start cleaning, Claire shows up and sees the mess. It turns out that Joey had mixed up her arrival time, it was actually 12:05pm. A shocked Claire then call for Joey's and Jesse's mothers to come over to help. The guys tell them to go out for a couple of hours, and that the house will be clean by the time they're back. After they leave, D.J and Stephanie tell the guys that Bubba has gone missing. They all search, but to no avail. When the mothers return, the house is still a mess, but they see how the guys handle D.J and Stephanie so well. They threaten to move in for good if things don't improve, but Danny have them take the girls to the zoo for a few hours, so they can actually get to work. This time, the house is spotless when the mothers return. Claire admits that Danny is able to handle things on his own, and Stephanie finds Bubba.

 005 * Sea Cruise

The episode opens with D.J officially 'retiring' not only as Queen Bee, but from the Honeybees all together. And in true fashion, she passes the crown - or in this case - the antenna, onto newbee Stephanie. Danny, Jesse, and Joey are videotaping the moment, and they have the girls do the secret Honeybee hello. This episode also feature Danny videotaping Michelle's very first steps while toddling around the livingroom. With no child responsibilities for the entire day while the girls are in the care of their visiting Grandmother, the guys take full advantage of this and decide to go out for a day of all male bonding - planning fishing on a yacht named Netunes Bride. Although it quickly becomes a male-female bonding adventure with three men and four women. It turns out that the captain of the yacht is a woman named Caroline (the granddaughter of their original Captain Jack), and there is also an all woman vocal band on board the yacht, led by Jesse's former girlfriend Roxanna. Jesse is still angry because Roxanna's band, which Jesse put together for her, has made it emmensly big, while Jesse and the Rippers are still playing dives. Though his anger quickly translates into jealousy. Meanwhile, Danny feels uncomfortable around Caroline because he is scared that he is becoming attracted to her too fast and worried it might be too soon after Pam's death to become interested in another woman. On the boat, Jesse and Joey laugh it up and drink with the ladies until Danny reminds the guys that they're there to fish and starts handing out equipment. The guys have a go at it, but have very different luck while trying to catch someting from the sea.

When Danny later gets home, he realizes he also missed a successful day taking D.J and the rest of the girls on a shopping trip, when the girls model their new clothes for him. Danny had also desperately been waiting for Michelle to call him 'da-da', and when she finally does, it is to Jesse and Joey! However, later in the locker room, when Danny apologizes to the Sandman for what happened, he accepts the apology, while also thanking Danny for having the courage to be honest with him about his wife. Reggie also realizes that his manager, Lou, talked him out of retirement because he needed the money, and it was because of Lou that Marcie left him. Therefore, the Sandman decides to officially quit his boxing career and find his wife and work things out with her, and he fires Lou for good. Lou, now broke, punches Danny, only to get himself hurt in the process, thanks to Danny's new tie tack, which had been made by Stephanie and then given to him by her and D.J. The girls also can't decide weather to watch the fight upstairs or downstairs, much to Jesse's dismay, as they have him running back and forth bringing them snacks. Meanwhile, back at home, Joey and Jesse explore their 'inner parent' when Michelle catches a cold. D.J., Stephanie, and Danny are curious to know why Jesse looks like he is ready to attack Joey with the bat. They all join him for a little bedtime story he made himself. In a flashback, they find out why Jesse seems poised to do great bodily harm to Joey. It all began when the exterminator business was going slow, and he decided to give giutar lessons on the side. One of his students turns out to be a beautiful grade-school teacher named Corinna Spencer, and Jesse is immediately smitten with her, and convinces himself that they are in love. However, he gets a harsh lesson of his own when she demonstrates a preference for Joey - especially when he delivers an extemporaneous one-man re-enactment of The Wizard of Oz when the cable goes out. Joey does his best to obey the bro code, but Corrina has other plans. Naturally, Jesse walks in the minute the two start kissing in the kitchen. Jesse is livid, thinking Joey stole his girl. This catches us up to the present, and Danny decides to resolve this conflict once and for all. It comes to Jesse and Joey's attention that they don’t even really know Corrina. Jesse admits that he’s waiting for that special someone and Joey shares that he was just amazed to meet a woman who was attracted to him. And just when it looks like Jesse and Joey will never be able to mend their differences, an unexpected mediator saves the day.

He even jokingly mentions that if the pilgrims had landed in Florida, they would be eating flamingos instead of turkey. When Grandma Claire Tanner, who was suppose to come and spend the holidays with the gang, is unable to make it as expected, because a snowstorm up north in Tacoma, Washington has unfortunelately stranded her at her home, the men are at first inspired to make restaurant reservations. However, D.J and Stephanie encourage them to have the traditional festivities at their own home as planned. The guys spend some time trying to make the dinner themselves but quickly realize that it’s too hard. D.J insists that she can handle the meal because her Grandma was going to put her in charge of the turkey anyways, so she is positive that she can handle the whole thing with some help. Plus, last year her mom taught her how to make a 'picture perfect pumpkin pie'. So in honor of the late Pam Tanner, the family decides to stay home and let the ten year-old cook. The family pull through together and create a great meal.  010 * Joey's Place

Joey gives the family the good news about being one of many comedians chosen to take part on a 2-week, 16-campus college tour. Everyone is excited about this, except Joey himself. He is afraid that if he takes the gig, he will not be able to care for the girls, but Jesse volunteers to take his place. The family agrees, and Joey decides to go ahead and press his luck. Joey has always been a good sport about living in the tiny alcove, however when it is time to work on his comedy routine, the toughest part is finding a quiet spot to practice. He starts in the living room, but Stephanie has to rehearse for her upcoming Honeybee meeting. Second, he tries the hallway, but Jesse is playing his music and D.J has homework. Third, he tries Michelle's room, but in her crib is an annoying toy parrot that records every human's voice. When he finally does find a spot, it is the garage. As quiet as it can be, it is also cold. And while he may use the car as his closet, and the wipers to dry off the windshield after his 'water fountain' routine, no one's there to see it, except D.J. Despite these issues, Joey's high spirits are not broken, but when the family seems to barely notice his absence when he goes away, he begins to wonder if anyone wants him around anymore. Meanwhile, Stephanie learns the meaning of a 'lookout', and Jesse has his hands full taking on Joey's role. When Joey arrives home, he puts down his bags in the alcove, but is surprised to see that it's completely empty. He also wonders where everyone is. The family is playing Monopoly in the kitchen, as it is revealed they've built him a room and moved all of Joey's stuff into what was the garage and is now the basement.

Danny is turning 30 years old, and he says he does not want any surprises. But they end up throwing a surprise party for him anyway. At breakfast, Joey warns Stephanie that she had better not spill the beans, as she did the previous year, as pointed out by D.J. Stephanie then remarks that she was only 4 years old at the time. She then asks how much 'the big three-O' is, to which Joey demonstrates using the cereal box. Jesse brings in Michelle, the 'Goodyear Birthday Blimp', as she has multiple baloons tied on her. Danny comes down and he gets a surprise gift from all three girls - the 'D.J., Stephanie and Michelle's Coupon Book' - where the older girls will volunteer to change Michelle's diapers and give his car, Bullet, a free car wash! He remarks that he bought Bullet a decade ago for his 20th birthday. Suddenly, the doorbell rings, and it is another gift - A limo ride - and the girls even get to ride in it to school! Jesse and Joey decide to come up with a surprise of their own: Jesse volunteers to go get seat covers for Bullet. And later, despite Danny's objections, throw a surprise party for him. However it is revealed that the car has rolled into the San Francisco Bay, much to the shock of the audience. It was all Jesse's fault because of where he was when he was shopping for Danny's present. They all try their best to hide it from Danny, as they don't want to ruin his birthday party. Though when Danny eventually sees it for himself, he just goes into shock, but pretend it's nothing. Jesse and Joey then come together to get him a new car as a surprise and apologize. Danny decides that it is time for the first ride with his family in his brand new car.

012 * Our Very First Promo

In an attempt to better it's ratings and outperform its competition, the TV station where Danny works is filming promos showing the members of their news team at home, which means a camera crew will be coming to the house. Everything seems to be in place when a woman named Ronnie shows up at the house for the filming, but Danny is perplexed when her methods of producing spicy television include a dog named Da Vinci, dressing Jesse up as an English butler, having D.J. and Stephanie dressed as perfect French girls, replacing sweet baby Michelle with an unknown child and completely removing Joey from the picture. So Danny needs to tell Ronnie off and show the viewers the real Tanner family. He decides she should be behind-the-scenes, holding the cue cards, and that he will direct the ad himself. Later, the family watches the promo for themselves, and even Kimmy has come by to watch. The result elicits applause from the family. D.J. asks about the usual allowance raise, and Danny decides they should wait until they get letters about it. Stephanie bets that they will get 18 tomorrow, and D.J. calls her sister out for it. All the while, Danny treats everyone to ice cream for a job well done. While all this is going on, Jesse and Joey try hard to locate the source of some strange animal noises in the house, which turns out to be a ferret, mistaken for monsters by Stephanie. However, D.J. assures her there are no monsters, not even in the closet or under either of their beds. Jesse and Joey locate the ferret, and talk about what to do with it. They sing 'Born Free' as they walk into the kitchen with the ferret to join the family for the ice cream.

He reminds her to think it over carefully before committing, as the chances of her getting it are small. She thinks about it for a few seconds, and says she wants to do it. However, an unexpected turn of events causes trouble when Stephanie, who accompanies D.J and Jesse to the audition, catches the director's eye and lands the part. Needless to say, D.J is not happy about that at all. Back home, Joey, who's been told by his doctor to eat healthier, shows Danny his health food tonic that he made in the blender. Not quite what he expected, he struggles with his new diet. When Stephanie later rehearses in the kitchen, D.J is consumed by jealousy. However, D.J insists that's not the case. But it quickly escalates to a chase around the kitchen, both sisters accusing eachother for being jealous and a thief. This causes Jesse and Joey to step in to resolve the problem. They send Stephanie out to the living room to rehearse, while they have a chat with D.J in the basement. In the living room, Stephanie makes a phone call to the Oat Boats Cereal company, wanting to decline the part. However, she's interrupted by D.J, who needs to talk to her pronto.  018 * Just One Of The Guys

Steve, the 17-year-old nephew of Danny and cousin of D.J, Stephanie and Michelle is coming to stay with the family for the next few days. Very much anticipating his visit, having grown up idolizing Steve, in spite of his former nerdy nature, D.J gets quite a shock when she sees that Steve has changed quite a lot since the last time she saw him, with no more zits, glasses or braces. Instead, he now has clear skin, the braces are off and the glasses have been replaced with contacts. In fact, he has actually become quite the ladies man. Also, due to his parents recent divorce and in need of some male bonding time, Steve also now prefers to hang out with the guys in the household rather than the girls. He is not interested in doing stuff together like they did last time, such as go ice-skating, which results in a very distraught and disappointed D.J. This causes her to act out and resort to drastic measures so that she will not be left out, trying to do whatever she can to be one of the guys in order to hang with Steve. After a terrible unsuccessful game of touch football in the park with the whole gang, where D.J blatantly attacks Steve, Danny has to sit down and explain to her that Steve is now becoming a young man, and with his dad is moving out he needs his uncle more than ever at this time. D.J still doesn't understand why they can't be friends, and walk away crying. Later that night, Steve eventually comforts D.J with a talk in her room, where he explains why thing are so different this time round, and she finally understands what is going on. After the chat, she decides to have him repeat the greeting from earlier and then promises to take her ice-skating as they hug.

 019 * The 7-month Itch (1)

Danny, Joey, and the girls prepare for a trip to Disneyland, and Stephanie is beyond excited about going. However, a heavy fog forces them to cancel it, resulting in Stephanie becoming really down. Unfortunately, Jesse had hoped to take advantage of everyone's absence to spend some quality time with his girlfriend Samantha. Instead, the family decide to have a family fun night, much to Jesse's dislike, and perhaps even more to Stephanie's dislike, so she goes upstairs to mope in her room. D.J comes in and explain that you can't always get your way. That provides little comfort to Stephanie, so D.J has to play the Tickle Monster to cheer her up. Then Danny enters, saying he understand that's she's sad, but if she keeps moping about missing one good thing, she will miss out on many more good things. Stephanie finally realizes she have to learn to let it go. That night, Jesse talk to Joey about his loss of privacy and independence since moving in, and whether he should stay or not. He asks Joey if he likes living in the house, to which Joey says that he does. Even if it means making school lunches for the girls, helping them with their homework, picking up their toys, chasing them around town, or changing diapers. He also adds that growing up, he did not have any brothers or sisters and like being part of a big family such as this one. He ends it by telling Jesse to sleep on his decision. Jesse goes to sleep and has a very vivid dream, in which everyone comes to his room wanting something from him. In the morning, Danny and Joey go to Jesse's room and find a note on his bed saying that he left, not knowing when or even if he will come back.

 020 * The 7-month Itch (2)

Picking up from where we left off, waking up to find Jesse gone is a shock for everyone. Danny and Joey try their best to hide the truth from the kids, but to no avail. The girls are extremely upset after the guys are forced to admit that Jesse is considering moving out. That morning, Joey makes pancakes for breakfast, while they all criticize Joey's attempt as they are not the same way that Jesse makes them. Then, the phone rings. On the other end is Jesse, who's staying at a log cabin in Tahoe. They all take turns talking to him before he has to get back to entertaining his friends. At home in her room, D.J is having a tough time adjusting to guitar lessons with Danny subbing for Jesse as her teacher. On the other hand, Stephanie moves her stuff into Jesse's room while he's gone, and even enlists the help of both her sisters. The girls then join forces to come up with a scheme to get their uncle back home where he belongs. They call the cabin where Jesse is staying, and tell him that Michelle is coughing and he is the only one able to give her cough medicine. Although Jesse is a pretty tough guy, his little nieces are very familiar with his notorious weak spot. At home, Danny and Joey are playing basketball in the living room when Jesse makes his return. As he rushes to go see Michelle, they tell him she is fine, and figure the girls made him come home. As he is about to leave again, Danny and Joey stop him, make him realize that he has gained a lot more by moving in than what he has lost. They assure him they can make it work, and let him take a few days off once in a while. Jesse decides to not move out. He goes upstairs and reunite with his nieces.

He lent him his last $800 to fix his car and expect Joey to offer him the amount back now that he has come into enough money, with the intent to give it back as a friendly gesture, leading to a feud between the two on who get to offer the money. D.J is still curious about what's in Jesse's bag, so she tricks Michelle by dropping a cookie into the bag and having her find it, to which both girls are caught. D.J hears that her favourite singer Stacey Q will be at a local mini-mall to give out autographs. Knowing it would mean meeting Stacey Q in person, she badly wants to go and will do absolutely anything to make it happen. The problem is, the signing is scheduled to take place during school hours. So D.J. decides to skip school by pretending to be sick. She gets Jesse to mention how he once successfully skipped school, and D.J. pulls that same trick on Jesse and Joey. D.J. and Kimmy head to the mini-mall and get in line to get their autographs. As they are about to leave, they see Joey and Michelle come through the door, so they hide. Turns out that Joey had planned to get the autograph for D.J. and surprise her with it after school. Michelle, who is on a leash, spots D.J., which leads to Joey finding her. He realize that she has faked sick, snatches the autograph out of her hand, and takes her home. Back home, Joey explains to Jesse what's happened, and they talk about what their dads did to them when they got in trouble. They both consider punishing her, but immediately change their minds and decide to keep it a secret so Danny think they can take care of the girls on their own. But when Danny comes home from his trip to L.A. and hears what happened, he's furious. After sending D.J. upstairs, he lectures the guys about their parenting skills, or lack thereof. He then scolds D.J. for skipping school and involving her little sister in the mess, saying what she did was selfish. He remarks that she is a lot better than that, and reminds her to think things through more carefully next time. D.J., agrees to do that, and apologizes to her father and sister for lying.
