While Danny and Jesse are out, Joey is left in charge of the girls. D.J and Stephanie want to stay up late so they can watch a Tiffany concert on TV, so they use the 'bunny nose' on Joey to allow them to do that. When Danny comes home and sees that they are up late watching the concert, he tells Joey that whenever he is home alone and in charge of the girls, he needs to make sure they follow the rules of the house. The next day, D.J arrives home from karate class an hour late without telling Joey that she was with friends, practicing for an upcoming karate tournament. Joey then grounds D.J for the weekend when the karate tournament is scheduled to take place. D.J becomes furious, angrily reminding Joey that he is not her father. She then storms off upstairs, leaving Joey completely shocked, speechless, and depressed. Meanwhile on the next day, Jesse and The Rippers are scheduled to appear on Wake Up, San Francisco, where their performance is messed up by Danny's boss, Mr. Strowbridge, who wants Danny to sing with the band. Throughout the same day, D.J becomes even angrier when Danny and the rest of her family sides with Joey. This promps a family meeting about what happened - complete with a talking stick. However, realizing she's still not getting the family to see her way, D.J again storms off to her room. Joey follows her and they finally have a talk. Joey explains that he was scared to death when he didn't know where she was. D.J agrees that she should have called and told Joey that she was going to be home later than usual, and Joey agrees to let D.J compete in the karate tournament, though still grounded the next weekend.
