Jake is visited by an old girlfriend, Colleen, who shares that he is the father of her four-year-old son. She asks him to waive his parental rights so her husband can adopt him. Jake is upset that Colleen failed to tell him the truth, and considers starting a custody battle. He believes that caring for a son could give him the direction he is lacking, but ultimately decides to sign away the rights. Alison needs surgery to remove a benign tumor from her uterus, or she may not be able to have children. However, she can't pay for it due to no insurance. Billy is frustrated with the hospital bureaucracy, and considers asking his parents for a loan. Alison turns him down, but appreciate what a great friend he is. Michael eventually do the surgery for free.
